Featured Musician: Eddie Ludema

After witnessing the local middle school band perform Superman, Eddie knew at the age of nine that he was destined to play the trumpet!

After many hours in the practice room making noise, he has had the opportunity to play with orchestral and chamber groups around the world.

Eddie is currently principal trumpet with the Columbus (Indiana) Philharmonic. He also served as co-principal in the Freiburg ORSO Philharmonic (Germany), was a substitute member of the Utah Symphony, and has recorded and performed on live radio and television broadcasts with the Orchestra at Temple Square and Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In addition to working on his doctoral coursework at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University with John Rommel, Eddie studied at the Freiburg Hochschule fuer Musik with Tony Plog and previously with Nick Norton at the University of Utah.  He is Associate Instructor of Trumpet at IU as well as a professional freelance software and web developer.

He loves teaching, and has taught students of all ages (from 3 to 65) in the United States, Mexico and Germany. He also loves discovering new international foods (cheese, chocolate, and all things PICANTE!).  All this he does with his lovely wife and best friend, Beth, who is a vocalist and oboe player.
