Featured Musician: Everett Burns

Everett Burns served as the second horn of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic until his appointment as Principal horn in 2011. In the past few years, he has had a number of competitive and performance successes. In 2008 he was selected as a winner in the Dorothy Frizelle Orchestral Audition Contest, and in 2009 he won first prize in the International Horn Society Solo Competition.

He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance at Indiana University in 2010, where he was a student of Professor Jeff Nelsen. He has also studied the natural horn with Professor Richard Seraphinoff. While at IU, he has performed in a wide variety of positions and ensembles, including the Philharmonic, Concert and Symphony Orchestras, Brass Choir, Baroque Orchestra, Big Band, Summer Festival Orchestra, and a number of chamber music ensembles.
