ABOUT THE ARTIST

Spencer Day – the #1 Billboard jazz/pop singer and songwriter seen everywhere from Lincoln Center to the Hollywood Bowl – is in the process of finishing his new project Broadway By Day, his first album of standards/theater songs after years of hitting the charts with his original material.

Broadway by Day is Spencer’s collection of reimagined theater songs with surprising and inventive genre-blurring arrangements from jazz to Latin, for songs not typically heard in a jazz context. Highlights include Rodgers & Hammerstein (“Bali Ha’i”), Marvin Hamlisch (“What I Did for Love”), and Andrew Lloyd Webber (“I’d Be Surprisingly Good For You”). Spencer’s version of Jerry Herman’s “It Only Takes a Moment” is a duet with Grammy-nominated vocalist Jane Monheit. Dave Koz, the nine time Grammy-nominated saxophonist, is also a special guest on the album.

Spencer has already performed this program around the country and will continue to tour it through performing arts centers, festivals, and clubs when live music is possible again.

An EPK is attached and some rough cuts from the album are available for your private preview are available on request.

Spencer’s first collaboration with Postmodern Jukebox has over 3 million views on YouTube and counting.

His 2018 indie release Angel City – recorded will full orchestra at Capitol Studios – spawned two hit singles: People.com premiered the video to the first single, “72 and Sunny.” He also performed the single on New York’s Fox 5 TV, which you can watch here. A special remix of the song, which was put into rotation by Sirius XM Chill and featured in DJ Kygo’s “Palm Tree Summer Playlist,” is available on Apple Music.

The album’s second single, “Angel City,” was the #1 Most Added track from the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Chart, in addition to being #1 Most Added track on the Groove Jazz Music Chart.

When he was recording with Concord, his earlier album Vagabond peaked at #11 on the Billboard Album Chart and stayed on the chart for 47 weeks. The lead single, “Til You Come To Me,” peaked at #3 was played on national radio and late night on CBS-TV. His recent album, Daybreak, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Jazz Chart.

Spencer is one of the most acclaimed young artists creating witty and sophisticated pop songs in the tradition of the classic American writers. NPR raved that he has “one of the most beautiful singing voices around today.” He’s also been hailed as “sensual and intimate” by The Huffington Post, “compelling” by Time Out New York, and “brilliant” by the San Francisco ChronicleThe Washington Post praised his “cool jazz sensibilities” and “cleverly crafted tales.”
