Philharmonic Chorus Information

The Columbus Philharmonic Chorus has been an important element of Philharmonic programming since the first concert in 1987 when Serenade to Music by Ralph Vaughan Williams was performed.

Choral Coordinator Beth Booth Poor said of the close-knit group, “On Monday nights throughout the past twenty-five seasons, the Philharmonic Chorus has met to rehearse. The Chorus members are of all ages and vocations. Excellent performances plus the enthusiasm of the singers have helped to make the Chorus grow and remain strong. It has been a joy for the Chorus to be part of the Philharmonic organization for the past twenty-two years.”

The Chorus does not require an audition. Singers range in age from high school students to senior citizens. Anyone who can read music, finds pleasure in the teamwork of chorus participation and is willing to strive for musical excellence is encouraged to join. The Chorus members enjoy having students from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music join them in the Chorus, adding another level of proficiency to the group.
